Spell my name right

After eight weeks of filming, Spanish Inquisition-style interviews, and a house full of filming gear, the day before our episode of Eat Well For Less was being broadcast on BBC1, my family’s documentary was replaced by the special unscheduled programme, The Downfall of Boris Johnson, who had for the umpteenth time in his career crashed into a flaming wall of controversy.

My family did the show for two reasons, to eat well for less, obviously… We were eating less for more for sure, and to reap publicity. I once worked on a paranormal magazine with Uri Geller and as well as the spooky moments, I remember him leaning in and saying about the press hounds: ‘They can say what they want but they better spell my name right’.

Publicity, being visible means everything when you have something to sell. You don’t have to be unique, you don’t have to be better, you have to shout the loudest and be the brightest. Never expect anyone to see you unless you try to be seen. So many business owners sit there in the dark with their brilliant products and services and can’t fathom why people are not falling over themselves to put in orders.

You need to be in the newspapers, the magazines, TV and radio, you need to be on social media and you need to be out there showing people the ‘why’.
